20-06-11 Time to get this act together. Today, I think that I am going to talk about something that has been really perplexing to me. I am wondering why so many people have the inability to listen. We all (with the exception of people who are deaf or hard of hearing) can hear, but we refuse to listen. It seems rather ironic that we all want to be heard but we do not want to hear what others are saying. I know that when you give a little time to someone, you might just make that little difference that they need to proceed to better themselves or make a different choice. I work in an emergency department, and you would be surprised as to how many people just want someone to listen to them.
Here is the question: When do we start this process of teaching someone to listen and be empathetic to others? Do we as parents teach our children how to do this? The answer is, "Absolutely!" We need to guide our children to be more accountable for their actions and to learn that old physics philosophy, "For every action, there is an..."
I love my daughters. I know that you know that, but I just love saying it out loud. They are truly the life-blood that keeps me on the ground. Some say, "They keep you grounded." I say, "They keep me honest." They let me see the hypocrisies created when, as a parent, you fail to listen to your children, teaching them incorrect, unacceptable societal behaviour. In short, you are creating the proverbial crop where you reap what you sow.

I am guessing that this post is not so much a happy does it but more of a 'sometimes things really do just frustrate the hell out of me' post. Over my life, the one thing that I have always lived by and believe is that you should never keep things in when you are upset or angry. So...
