Unless you have grown up in a place where snow is common during the winter, having a daily happy of toques may seem ridiculous.
I was watching a football game today, between the New England Patriots and the New York Jets, and this is what inspired this daily happy. On the sidelines, Tom Brady (the quarterback for New England) was wearing a toque. It was awesome to see. It was red, white and blue (the teams colours) and it had a pom on the top; a pom, I swear.
Memories flooded my head of the snowfalls from childhood. I am not sure how you remember this, but for me, I had to go through the trials and tribulations of getting outside to play with my friends First, the 'always felt huge on you' snow suit. Second, was the boots, and since you have this huge snowsuit on it was a battle of wills between you and your desire to go out and get those boots on. Your knees couldn't bend all the way so I guess it was a torturous way of doing early yoga. Finally, you mother brings out the 'bag' of mitts, hats and scarves. Just one more cruel obstacle for a child to have to go through to go out and have some good ol' fashioned fun.
The toque was always the cherry on top of your snow playing outfit. I really appreciated seeing that today, it made me smile.
:o) The final key to outdoor happiness
