Daily Happy:
A sound, a beat, even a melody will always cause my face to smile. I have been in love with music, long before I can remember.
One of my earliest recollections of listening to music is putting the 8-track into the stereo. Of course I was listening to greats like, 'Rubber Ducky' 'La La La' and of course the ever so favourite ' 'C' is for cookie.' It wasn't all fun and Sesame Street for me; I would also delve into a little Disco. One song I loved was 'Ring My Bell', by Anita Ward. It is dear to my heart for one really good reason. I would sing that song every time I saw the buoy with the bell, while on my grandfather's fishing boat. I was made fun of, but even then, I didn't care.
Some of my neighbours from Stokil Drive, will and do recall me trouncing up the road singing 'Wasn't That A Party', by the Rovers. Now I didn't come in contact with the Rovers through the 8-track, nope, it was on a 45 record. I was always fascinated with the little plastic do-hicky thing in the middle of the 45 records. Unbeknownst to most, as much as I love 'Wasn't That a Party', on side two of that 45 was another song 'Here's to the Horses', which melded quite readily into my heart. (In case you didn't know or perhaps you do, 'The Rovers' are in fact 'The Irish Rovers' but this album was put out after they re-branded themselves, leaning more to a country style) One thing that I loved about our duel record/8-track player was there was a little microphone. It was fun to sing into it; and I LOVE to sing.
I have always wondered if there is anyone out there like me. I am sure that there is. I have always, as long as I can recall, had a song in my heart. Through dark times, through sorrow, through laughter and through smiles, music soothes my soul. One of my greatest memories of George and me, involves Def Leppard, country music and me almost choking to death through laughter. George is a really funny f#@ker!
So yeah, it's the summer. Crank up the music, go to a concert or just sing your heart out.
Be Present. Be Mindful. Be Happy!
Happy Does It! ;o)
