I find it amazing how people's moods change whenever the sun makes an appearance. Most of the time when it is not sunny you would think that it has been raining or snowing for years and that just right now, as the sun comes out, this is the first time in forever.
So why do we think like this? What in particular is it about the sun that makes everyone joyful? I am not sure. I do not know the psychology of everyone, but I can speculate as to why some of us feel much better on sunny days.
When it is dark and gloomy, it can dictate how you feel. Most of us will put off the things that we have to do because of the weather or we will choose to do the things that we have been putting off inside our home, things that we see everyday. I stress the word 'most' because there are those out there who have this driving force behind them that allows them to navigate their way through the dark and gloomy days without a hitch. I envy and feel sorry for those people all at once. I envy them for being so productive, and I feel sorry for them because they are incapable of enjoying the experience of slacking off.
I love my sunny days. Even when it is a little hot and a little bothersome, I will never really complain. I do not like being cold. I like being cool, but never cold. I think that maybe the feeling of being cold for me just has a negative connotation. It reminds me of times when I was so cold that I couldn't heat myself up, times when the mere introduction of heat sent a burning unpleasant feeling through my hands and feet. I knew that they were numb, but I would rather not feel anything, than have to go inside and feel everything. Such an awful experience.
So what to do? It is getting warmer, and before we can sit back and think of what to do, it will be fall. So why don't we list things that we could enjoy doing outside/inside on days like today? Well there is the obvious, go to the beach/pool/lake (whatever body of water you can find). That is always a winner in my book, especially the beach. Where else can you go to and get a free exfoliation of your feet, and be relaxed at the same time? Other things you could do is go to the mall, go out for ice-cream, have a water fight, go to a park or even go for a drive with the windows down. Whatever it is that puts that smile on your face and takes away the concern for the heat, is probably the best solution for you. If you have a basement, like I do, you may end up living in your own personal bat cave all summer. Although that dampness can cause some problems, during the heat, it is a welcomed problem. Dehumidifier be damned, I might just go and watch some movies, and keep cool.
So whatever it is that makes your sunny days bright, happy and cool, I hope that you enjoy your sunny days with people you love in an environment suitable to the uniqueness of you!
Happy Does It :o)
