I love ginger. I don't know what it is about this sassy spice but it really gets my happy vibes jivin'. It has this sweetness that is truly inviting and once you get sucked in, here comes the boom. This wonderful smokey cinnamon flavour takes over.
My lovely daughter loves making my grandmother's recipe for molasses cookies, and might I say she actually has a knack for making molasses cookies. In the recipe it calls for...you guessed it ...ginger....yum.
One of my most favourite desserts is a ginger cake that my mother makes. You need to eat it when it is warm and with some whipped cream....Double YUM. Just add a few peaches on the top of the whipped cream and you have now reached dessert heaven. Yes, now the gods are looking down at you.
Now I am not only saying that I am a dessertaholic(perhaps sometimes I am), I also enjoy ginger tea. I never even thought about making tea out of ginger root until a nurse(this is my shout out to Amanda, miss you) that I worked with suggested it. So I went home and made the tea, and added a little honey.
I also like the pickled ginger that comes with the wonderful sushi that I get from Sushi Tonari in Bedford. So very yummy.
So there you have it. My happy for today is the most versatile root, ginger.
:o) There is no Gilligan in this happy...
