The amazing and wonderful thing about parades is that they bring communities together. It is a time when families get together and share a common bond. Although tonight it was freezing, everyone stood out there watching and anticipating for the "big" guy to come around; when he did, all the kids were super excited.
Community spirit is something that defines what type of people live in a community. How people interact with one another and how they gather not only grows a community but it shows a very valuable lesson to your children. Going to community events demonstrates to your kids that you respect the people in your community, and that you are a valuable person in society. It shows your kids how much other people value and respect their community and it shows the giving nature of those people. A bond. A bond among friends. A bond among neighbours. A bond among towns.
So, with all that being said, my happy today is the community spirit shown tonight in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. Well done!
