This is our new addition. Having 'Bossy Boots' in our lives, although it has been an absolute pleasure, it kind of reminds me of having an over caffeinated two year old.

What more do I have to say! They are cute, soft and sometimes a little dumb. It seems that they read your mind and try to disrupt everything that you have. This is our new addition. Having 'Bossy Boots' in our lives, although it has been an absolute pleasure, it kind of reminds me of having an over caffeinated two year old. :o) Fluffy little bundles of joy. Unless you have grown up in a place where snow is common during the winter, having a daily happy of toques may seem ridiculous. I was watching a football game today, between the New England Patriots and the New York Jets, and this is what inspired this daily happy. On the sidelines, Tom Brady (the quarterback for New England) was wearing a toque. It was awesome to see. It was red, white and blue (the teams colours) and it had a pom on the top; a pom, I swear. Memories flooded my head of the snowfalls from childhood. I am not sure how you remember this, but for me, I had to go through the trials and tribulations of getting outside to play with my friends First, the 'always felt huge on you' snow suit. Second, was the boots, and since you have this huge snowsuit on it was a battle of wills between you and your desire to go out and get those boots on. Your knees couldn't bend all the way so I guess it was a torturous way of doing early yoga. Finally, you mother brings out the 'bag' of mitts, hats and scarves. Just one more cruel obstacle for a child to have to go through to go out and have some good ol' fashioned fun. The toque was always the cherry on top of your snow playing outfit. I really appreciated seeing that today, it made me smile. :o) The final key to outdoor happiness I am intimately involved in relationship with chocolate. The texture and taste of it gets me every time. It really doesn't matter if it is in chocolate chip form, bar form or in cake form, I am in love with chocolate. You would think that I would able to resist the little morsels of yumminess; but no, it leads me down a sweet delicious trail and I fall all over again. I truly believe that whoever came up with the idea of mixing chocolate and peanut butter was a genius. Sweetness with Saltiness equals unnatural amounts of calories with a hint of 'one won't kill me.' In a lot of my life situations, chocolate is the solution. :o) Sweet Truth You know, I would never have thought that I would be able to enjoy Saturdays like I do now. For the last several years, any and all jobs that I had were shift work consisting of days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. One of the jobs that I had I was working every weekend and holiday. I always say that that whole TGIF that everyone touts on Fridays, is pointless to say to a shift worker. With my new position, I have all evenings, weekends and holidays off and to be quite frank, and it was hard to get used to, but now, Saturdays make me happy. One reason that I love Saturdays is the morning cartoons. Do I still watch them? Not really, but I have been known to get caught up in a Scooby Doo episode or two. How many of us watched Saturday morning cartoons? I am sure that a lot of you did. You may or may not admit to it, but if I started humming the theme song to Scooby Doo, I am sure that you'll know the chorus line. If it wasn't for those meddling kids, I would have had boring Saturday mornings. When you were a kid, the cartoons were great distractions from the weather outside. When you are an adult, the cartoons are a great distraction for your kids from the weather outside. So, win-win. The best thing about Saturday is Sunday. It is a day of the week where I know that I do not (anymore) have to work the next day. It is now my day of leisure. A day to do whatever I want. :o) Do what makes you happy! I know that some of you love your sunshine, and I do as well. However, one of the best memories that I have as a child was standing out in the first snowfall trying to catch the snowflakes. They come in so many different sizes and shapes, and fall at different rates of speed. They are their own personal rainbows, delicate and small, but all unique. I loved catching snowflakes on my mittens(yes I wore mittens) and looking at them to see what that one looked like, and as quick as it landed it would disappear. Of course there was always the option of catching the little darlings on my tongue. You would think that that wouldn't be a challenge, but it was, it really was. Somehow, a light breeze would carry the snowflakes in so many directions, swirling and twirling them around, that it was a "dance of the snowflakes" that all the children would do. Your arms would expand outward welcoming the first snowfall of the season. I never seem to worry when I am focusing on snowflakes. Just a Happy Thought.. :o) (Note: The photo is of a real snowflake, taken with a photomicroscope. Photo credit to SnowCrystals.com) My happy thought today is of marshmallows. They are the most versatile ingredient, plus they are so damn tasty. Who doesn't like the mini marshmallows in your hot cocoa? I know some don't like them, but I do. I love roasting marshmallows over an open fire, turning my sugary-sweet treat into a blazing inferno. I love peeling back the 'skin' of the the inferno, and then immediately placing it over a fire again. to repeat the process. I can not count how many S'mores I have made, but I am sure that the number will continue to increase. For those of you who do not know about S'mores, I will tell you how to make them (basic). You need two graham crackers, a marshmallow and a square of chocolate. You put the chocolate square on the graham cracker. You need to heat the marshmallow, either over an open fire or a microwave. If you are using the microwave, place the marshmallow on the graham cracker/chocolate, place the second cracker on top, microwave for about 20 seconds. Voila! S'mores. Yum. Rice Krispie Squares...enough said! :o) I love how the rain drops fall. The sound that they make when you are camping and are in a tent. I know that it sucks that you are camping in a tent and it is raining, but the sound is soothing.
I love when you walk out into the rain when it firsts starts and for some reason everyone thinks that we have super powers and we can 'tiptoe'through the rain drops. Finally, we will give into the fact that we are drenched and it doesn't feel the greatest. My happy today is rain drops. :o) |
